Linen Fiber

2021-06-15

Linen is a textile made from the fibers of the flax plant.

Linen is very strong, absorbent, and dries faster than cotton. Because of these properties, linen is comfortable to wear in hot weather and is valued for use in garments. It also has other distinctive characteristics, notably its tendency to wrinkle.

Linen textiles appear to be some of the oldest in the world; their history goes back many thousands of years. Dyed flax fibers found in a cave in Southeastern Europe suggest the use of woven linen fabrics from wild flax may date back over 30,000 years. Linen was used in ancient civilizations including Mesopotamia and ancient Egypt, and linen is mentioned in the Bible. In the 18th century and beyond, the linen industry was important in the economies of several countries in Europe as well as the American colonies.

Textiles in a linen weave texture, even when made of cotton, hemp, or other non-flax fibers, are also loosely referred to as "linen".

Strengths:

1. Breathable heat dissipation

Flax is the "queen" of natural fibers. It has excellent properties, such as high temperature resistance and fast heat dissipation, so it is especially suitable for use as summer clothing fabrics.

2. Low-key texture

The linen fabric has a natural wrinkle, it does not look cheap, but has a lazy and casual feeling. If it is used as a long shirt fabric, it will have a feeling of immortality.

3. Advanced color

The most advanced color of linen fabric is sub-brown, which is the color of linen's ability. Its colors are pure, low-saturated, with a serene charm. Moreover, the texture of the fabric has a grainy feeling of sand, but it is not rough, especially it can show temperament.

4. Tough texture

Linen has high fiber strength and is not easy to tear or puncture, so it is often used as a canvas, which can be scraped and pressed with a palette knife.

Care instruction:

Anti-wrinkle should be used when machine washing linen sheets and should never be dehydrated in the washing machine. Do not use washing powder and soap with bleaching effect when cleaning, otherwise the color will fade. After leveling, dry it without exposing it to the sun. Iron it when it is semi-dry to reduce the shrinkage rate. Linen sheets should be cleaned with disinfectant every 1--2 weeks. The washing method is the same as that of ordinary sheets. It can be washed with water or dry cleaned. Soak in cold waters for 10 minutes before washing. Do not twist hard when washing by hand. After leveling, let it dry naturally in the shade.
